Communism in 1984

Definition of Communism: Communism is a social structure in which classes are abolished and property is commonly controlled, as well as a political philosophy and social movement that advocates and aims to create such a society.

The idea of communism was thought up about by Karl Marx.
"Pure communism" in the Marxian sense refers to a classless, stateless and oppression-free society where decisions on what to produce and what policies to pursue are made democratically, allowing every member of society to participate in the decision-making process in both the political and economic spheres of life.
Communism is usually considered a branch of socialism.

In society today communism is mainly in the country of North Korea. It has been in past countrires but has been abolished for reasons that pertain to the independence of people.

How communism this relates to 1984:

In the book of 1984, the society in which Winston lives, is relateable to communism. The people are "governed" by Big Brother. Big Brother pretty much tells the people in the society what to do and when to do it. Big Brother is very similar to a dictator. Also, the people in the society will watch eachother and turn eachother in if they think, or say anything against the government. These are the thought police and they have pretty much been brain washed int he society just like the people in a communist society have been.
